# Holidays and Workdays Management

# Managing Holidays and Business Days

Flokzu allows you to configure different work calendars to define the days and hours during which your organization operates. These calendars can be used to calculate task and timer due dates, taking into account the configured working days, hours, and holidays.

To access this feature, go to ***Configuration*** *→ **Advanced** → **Holidays and workdays management***, where you can configure these four categories:

* **Workdays:** Specify which days of the week are business days for your organization. Check the corresponding boxes and click **Save configuration**.
* **Fixed Holidays:** Non-business days that recur on the same date every year (for example: January 1, December 25). These are configured by specifying only the day and month.
* **Variable holidays:** Non-working days that apply to a specific year or are floating dates. These are configured by specifying the day, month, and year.
* **Working hours:** Defines the work schedule established for each working day of your organization.

## Work Calendars

An organization can have multiple work calendars, and each one can have its own configuration of working days, working hours, and holidays.

Working hours apply to all days marked as working days and are used to calculate due dates configured in hours.

|| Important: Working hours must be configured as a single continuous schedule (one start time and one end time), which will be applied equally to all days marked as working days.

## Adding and editing holidays

**To add** a holiday, click the **“+”** button, select the date in the pop-up window, and confirm by clicking **Add Holiday**.
**To edit** an existing holiday, click on it and select the new date or disable it. Variable holidays can only be edited up until the day before their date.

|| A fixed holiday and a variable holiday cannot have the same date.

## How does this setting affect processes?

This setting takes effect only when the **Business days** option is selected in:
* Timers ([interruptive, non-interruptive](/en/article/timers-in-process-flows-interruptive-and-non-interruptive-1sizf1l/) or [intermediate](/en/article/what-are-intermediate-timers-1o1k3rc/))
* Configuring the [due date of User Tasks](/en/article/how-to-define-a-due-date-for-tasks-105lmjt/).

When using this functionality, you can select the **work calendar** that will be used to calculate the due date. Days defined as non-working days will automatically be excluded from the due date calculation.

| IMPORTANT: **For timers, the due date is calculated from the moment the instance** ***reaches*** **the timer. For user tasks, you can choose between two options: calculate the due date from the moment the instance reaches the task, or start counting from the beginning of the instance. Changes to this configuration only affect instances that have not yet reached that stage.**

## Due Date Preview and Mark as At Risk

When configuring the duration of a User Task, Flokzu displays a preview of the due date and time.

The calculation assumes that the task is created at that moment, allowing you to verify how the configured working hours, working days, and holidays are applied.

Additionally, you can configure an alert before the task's due date. When the task reaches the period defined as at risk, its label is displayed in yellow in the Inbox and appears as **At Risk** in the Real-Time Report.

###### Practical Example

An organization that operates Monday through Friday, with the following holidays (dates in mm/dd/yyyy format):

* Variable holiday: 10/07/2026 (Wednesday), 10/12/2026 (Monday)
* Fixed holiday: 10/14

Task created on **10/06/2026**

| Configured Due Date | Resulting Date |
| ---- |
| 1 business day | 10/08/2026 - Thursday |
| 2 business days | 10/09/2026 - Friday |
| 7 business days | 10/20/2026 - Tuesday |

The *hours, days, months, and years* options do not take this setting into account and calculate the due date in calendar days.

## Audit

Clicking on any holiday displays the edit history: creation date, changes made, and the user responsible for each change.

## Access via JavaScript API

From the [Flokzu JavaScript library](/en/article/script-development-in-flokzu-r8hgxm/#1-available-functions), you can query holidays using:
* `Flokzu.getHolidays()` — returns all enabled holidays.
* `Flokzu.isHoliday(date)` — returns `true` if the date is an enabled holiday, `false` otherwise.
